Release Some Nitric Oxide
Nitric Oxide is a molecule that our body naturally produces. It has several functions in our body , one very important function is vasodilation (relaxing the inner muscles of the blood vessels). Vasodilation causes your blood vessels to widen and increases circulation, allowing the oxygen and nutrients in our blood to reach all parts of our bodies effectively.
Eat Your Vegetables
You can increase nitric oxide by eating organic vegetables high in nitrates. (This is not to be confused with sodium nitrates used as a preservative in processed meats.) The nitrates in vegetables are converted to nitric oxide. Celery, lettuce, arugula, beets,spinach and garlic are all good sources.
Nitric Oxide degrades quickly, once in the bloodstream, however, it rebuilds every couple of hours. Increasing your intake of antioxidants stabilizes and limits it's breakdown. Increasing your antioxidant intake of vitamin C, E, Glutathione and polyphenols is helpful. As well, the mentioned vegetables also contain antioxidants.
Get That Blood Flowing
Exercise gets your blood flowing because it improves the function of the cells lining your blood vessels (endophelia). These cells store and produce nitric oxide, keeping your blood vessels healthy ( A dysfunction here can lead to disease).
The nitric oxide released with exercise also increases oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and contributes to muscle rebuild.
